Kali Uchis is a singer, songwriter, producer and director in constant evolution, also a Colombian-American fashion designer. Growing up between Colombia, South America and North America, she learned to play piano and saxophone in a jazz band and fell in love with music.
She started collaborating with rapper Snoop Dogg on the song “On Edge”, from his mix tape released in 2014 That’s My Work Volume 3. That same year, she released her very first studio performance, “Never Be Yours” on the Kinda Neat Music podcast. In February 2015, she released her first studio project, which was her first EP, entitled Por Vida. The project contains productions in collaboration with Alex Epton, Diplo, Tyler, The Creator, Kaytranada, Bad Bad Not Good, and others.
She was the lead singer on Gorillaz‘s “She’s My Collar” track, on their fourth studio album Humanz, as well as on the bonus track “Ticker Tape”. In 2017, she was nominated for a Latin Grammy Award for “Recording of the Year” and was nominated for “Best R&B Performance” with Daniel Ceasar for “Get You” at the 60th Grammy Awards Ceremony. On May 22, 2017 she released “Tyrant”, in collaboration with Jorja Smith, the first single from her future debut studio album.
