Ali Amran: Between Roots and Horizons

He comes from a village clinging to the mountains, where the wind still carries the old songs. As a child, Ali fashioned his first guitar from pieces of wood. He didn't know it yet, but this simple act opened a path that would never cease to expand.
At the University of Tizi-Ouzou, the stage became his learning ground. Words took shape, music asserted itself. Very quickly, his songs carried the voice of a generation: one that wants to remain true to its roots while looking the world straight in the eye.

Exile in France marked a turning point. Paris offered him space, but also doubt. He played in modest venues, persevered, and refined his style. His guitar blended folk, rock, blues, and pop, and his lyrics explored identity, freedom, exile, and the aspirations of a youth in motion.

Today, Ali Amran continues to surprise and unite people with his music. Her latest single, Dihin axir (2025), a duet with singer Melissa Sekhi, is a sensation and is spreading rapidly among the public. The title, poetic and profound, evokes the difficulty of leaving and the hope that pushes young people to leave their country to seek a better life "over there" — a universal theme about exile, family and the price of dreams to pursue far from home.
