HANGGAI

Hanggai, founded in 2004 by Ilchi, is a renowned Chinese Mongolian folk rock band with members from Inner Mongolia, Qinghai, and northern China. Deeply rooted in Mongolian musical and cultural traditions, Hanggai blends traditional instruments such as the tovshuur (two-stringed lute) and morin khuur (horse-head fiddle) with throat singing, percussion, electric guitar, and bass, creating a unique fusion of ancient melodies and modern rock.

In 2025, Hanggai returns to Montreal, bringing their signature fusion of Mongolian tradition and modern rock to the city once again.
